Eva and her family want nothing more than to live a free life, with a yearning for their own American dream. As the Allied Forces begin to invade Iraq, during the Iraq War, Eva and her family wait, unprotected. By the time the allied troops get to them, it is too late, her family has been murdered. Eva is about to be killed just as the American troops arrive in her hometown but she is saved by a U.S. Soldier, Frank King, rescuing her from the enemy’s grasp. As King runs back into battle, Eva, at only ten years old, is left alone.
Eva’s journey has just begun, as she is granted asylum in the United States, moving to Lakeland, Florida, to live with her Uncle. Eva has aspirations of being an artist, but is consumed with finding the Soldier that saved her life. Her attempts to find him are unsuccessful. As the years go by, Eva now a young woman, decides to leave her Uncle’s home, to pursue her dream of working as an artist. With help from a friend she gets a job on a play, working in the art department, where she hopes her talents as an artist will shine. Eva is also getting ready to take her American citizenship exam, something she is very excited about.
While working on the play, Eva meets Vince, who shares the same passion for the arts as Eva. Vince, along with his father, a Vietnam Veteran, help Eva find King. Excited about the prospect of finding the man that saved her life, things don’t turn out exactly how she imagined. Follow Eva on this journeyas she pursues the new American Dream.
While searching for the US Soldier that saved her life, Eva, a refugee from Iraq, discovers her own American dream.
